TIMBERS: U-23 team takes on Seattle in PDL playoffs
- Portland Tribune - Sports
The Portland-Seattle soccer rivalry returns to PGE Park this week, at a lower level than in the past but with intensity and a lot on the line.
The Portland Timbers' Under-23 team will take on the Seattle Wolves in the first round of the Premier Development League divisional playoffs at 2 p.m. Thursday at PGE Park.
The Timbers ended their inaugural PDL regular season with a record of 11-3-2 (35 points), which was good for second place.
Tickets, which are $5 each, will go on sale at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the stadium box office.
Portland led the PDL's Northwest Division with 43 goals in 16 games. The Timbers U-23s are undefeated (4-0-1) in their last five games.
The Wolves finished 10-3-3 (33 points) to place third in the division. Like Portland, they have won three games in a row.
The Portland-Seattle winner will meet the division-champion Kitsap Pumas for the league title at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Bremerton, Wash.
Also Thursday at PGE Park, the Timbers' United Soccer Leagues First Division squad will take on Puerto Rico at 7 p.m.
