Barbara Jean Greiner
Sept. 30, 1931-July 24, 2009
Gresham resident Barbara Jean Greiner, 77, died Friday, July 24.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, at Parklane Christian Reformed Church, 16001 S.E. Main St.
Barbara was born Sept. 30, 1931, in Silverton. In the late 1940s, she married Jack B. Thompson, who died in 1958. Barbara married James 'Jim' Greiner in 1977.
Barbara worked as a cook with Portland Public Schools for 27 years. After she retired, she went on to get her real estate license and worked as a Realtor for a few years.
When Jim retired, he and Barbara spent six years traveling all over the country in a recreational vehicle. They also took a trip to Mexico. Barbara and Jim were members of various RV clubs and the Moose and Elk lodges. After Jim died in 2008, Barbara continued to travel and took her first cruise in March through the western Caribbean. In addition, Barbara was an active member of Parklane Christian Reformed Church. She enjoyed knitting, gardening and the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
Her daughter, Zona Mackie, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son, Gordon Thompson of Gresham; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
