The West Linn City Council was in discussions regarding a possible ordinance regulating door-to-door solicitation in city limits, including requirements such as registration and limited allowable hours. Members of the Jehovah's Witness community appealed to the Council for reconsideration, saying the potential ordinance restricted their religious freedom.

A group of West Linn senior citizens, then meeting at West Linn Lutheran Church, were eyeing the soon-to-be closed Wells Fargo Bank at Willamette Drive and Walling Way as a possible site of a future senior center. The group had been hoping to build on property set aside for that purpose on Kenthorpe Way.

Six West Linn High School student athletes were given week-long suspensions for changing their Advanced Placement class grades, using a teacher's computer.

West Linn City Council approved road maintence fees for businesses, despite protests from local owners. The fees ranged from $4 to $400 a month, depending on the estimated auto trips generated by the business. The original proposal called for fees nearly twice that.
