She scored 45 goals and handed out 16 assists for the talented West Linn girls team

And of the six Oregon girls lacrosse players selected this year, one — Morgan Finklea — came from West Linn High School.

The Oregon Chapter, US Lacrosse and the Oregon Girls Lacrosse Association recently announced the 2017 US Lacrosse National Girls' High School awards for Oregon. In addition to Finklea, the other nominees were: Lake Oswego's Riley Hertford and Lauren Gilbert, Oregon Episcopal's Catherine Lawliss, Tualatin's Jordan Mitchell and Jesuit's Emily Steele.

The All-American status is awarded to players who exhibit superior skills and techniques, exceptional game sense, good sportsmanship and knowledge of the game of lacrosse. The players were recognized nationally for their lacrosse skills as well as for their leadership and contributions on and off the field. Candidate selection is voted on by the state's 41 varsity lacrosse coaches.

Their bios are as follows:

• Morgan Finklea is a senior at West Linn High School and is coached by Ben Finklea. Honors: 2017 1st Team All-State, 2017 1st Team All-League TRL, 2016 2nd Team All-League TRL, 2015 State Champions. University of Oregon commit.

• Lauren Gilbert is a senior at Lake Oswego High School and is coached by Lauren Anderson. Honors: 2017 State Champions, 2017 1st Team All-State, 2017 1st Team All-League TRL, 2017 Player of the Year TRL, 2016 All-American, 2016 All-Academic, 2016 State Champions, 2016 MVP Championship Game, 2016 1st Team All-State, 2016 1st Team All-League TRL, 2016 Player of the Year TRL, 2015 All-American, 2015 1st Team All-State, 2015 1st Team All-League TRL, 2014 State Champions. Northwestern University commit.

• Riley Hertford is a senior at Lake Oswego High School and is coached by Lauren Anderson. Honors: 2017 State Champions, 2017 1st Team All-State, 2017 1st Team All-League TRL, 2016 State Champions, 2016 1st Team All-State, 2016 2nd Team All-League TRL, 2015 All-American Honorable Mention, 2015 2nd Team All-League TRL, 2014 State Champions, 2014 2nd Team All-League TRL. University of Southern California commit.

• Catherine Lawliss is a senior at Oregon Episcopal School and is coached by Susan Bankowski. Honors: 2017 1st Team All-State, 2017 1st Team All-League PL, 2016 All-American, 2016 1st Team All-State, 2016 1st Team All-League PL, 2015 All-American Honorable Mention, 2015 1st Team All-State, 2015 1st Team All-League PL, 2015 Player of the Year PL, 2014 1st Team All-League PL. Tufts University commit.

• Jordan Mitchell is a senior at Tualatin High School and is coached by Christie Mitchell. Honors: 2017 1st Team All-State, 1st Team All-League NWOC, 2016 1st Team All-League NWOC, 2015 1st Team All-League NWOC, 2014 1st Team All-League NWOC. Savannah College of Arts and Design commit.

• Emily Steele is a senior at Jesuit High School and is coached by McKenzie Coulson. Honors: 2017 1st Team All-State, 2017 1st Team All-League Metro, 2016 2nd Team All-State, 2016 1st Team All-League Metro, 2015 2nd Team All-State, 2015 1st Team All-League Metro, 2014 2nd Team All-League Metro. University of Hartford commit.
