West Linn ski teams both fifth in TRL slalom
The West Linn ski teams were back at it again on Sunday.
Competing in a Three Rivers League slalom on Mt. Hood Meadows' Gemini run in Sunday, the Lion boys and girls teams both skied to fifth-place finishes on the day.
Next up, the West Linn and the rest of the Three Rivers League's skiers will compete in a giant slalom at Mt. Hood Meadows on Saturday.
In the boys race, Lakeridge sped away with top honors in the five-team field, placing first overall with a team time of 4 minutes, 15.62 seconds, winning by more than 17 seconds over runner-up Lake Oswego. Lakeridge's Jihoon Pak won the individual title at 1:22.48.
The Lions ended their day with a time of 5:05.22, their efforts led by Trevor Pool's sixth-place finish at 1:27.33 for his two runs. The rest of the West Linn finishers included: Christopher Winjum, 23rd at 1:56.95; Max Liubich, 24th at 1:57.14; Haden Misra, 55.49 for his one completed run; Macallister Graves, 48.14 for his one completed run; and Brian Wicklund, 54.75 for his one completed run.
In the girls race, it was Lincoln that set the pace, compiling a team time of 5:12.55 to give it an eight-second win over runner-up Wilsonville. Wilsonville's Keira Bertell won the day's individual title with a time of 1:31.42 for her two runs.
For West Linn — which put together a team time of 5:41.78 — Zayna Farah and Alyssa Hargis led the way, with Farah placing seventh in 1:49.78 and Hargis eighth at 1:50.01. The rest of the Lions' lineup included: Alex Skrypkar, 20th at 2:19.14; Rachel Esnoz, 59.92 for her one completed run; Grace Maher, 50.82 for her one completed run; and Madison Root, 1:01.80 for her one completed run.
