Wilsonville motorcyclist injured in accident


by: OREGON STATE POLICE - A Wilsonville man was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident Thursday morning.A Wilsonville motorcyclist was seriously injured in a near head-on collision with a small pickup on Highway 26 east of Manning in Washington County.

On July 4, at approximately 11:50 a.m., a 1994 Toyota pickup driven by Eric G. Lyon, 38, from Southeast Portland, was westbound on Highway 26 near milepost 49 in heavy stop-and-go traffic. The pickup attempted to make a U-turn with limited visibility. As it pulled across the double solid center line, it collided with a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle. The motorcycle’s operator, Justin Patey, 25, of Wilsonville, was ejected and was later transported by LifeFlight to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center with serious injuries. He was wearing a protective helmet.

Lyon was reportedly uninjured and provided initial medical care until relieved by paramedics. OSP was assisted at the scene by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, North Plains Police Department, Banks Fire District 13, Metro West ambulance and Oregon Department of Transportation.

The highway was closed with a detour in place for about an hour. Police are continuing the investigation and no citations or charges have been issued as of yet.
