Wilsonville Rotary announces 'Treasures of Wilsonville' theme

Nominations are open for Wilsonville First Citizen award


Wilsonville has many treasures. But the community’s greatest treasure would have to be its active, committed and passionate volunteers. The annual awards banquet serves to recognize local volunteers, including one individual or couple who will be chosen as the 2013 Wilsonville First Citizen.

“Many wonderful people have been chosen as Wilsonville’s First Citizen,” said John Holley, Wilsonville Rotary Club president. “We are looking for the community’s help in identifying who the next deserving recipient may be.”

Nominations are due Jan. 15. A selection committee will then select a group of four to five finalists and, ultimately, the next Wilsonville First Citizen. The finalists will be announced in late January and all will be honored at Treasures of Wilsonville: The 13th Annual Heart of Gold Celebration.

At the 2013 Heart of Gold Celebration, Jay Puppo was honored. Prior winners include Dick Spence, Debi Laue, Lonnie and Julie Gieber, Theonie Gilmore, Anne Easterly, Ron Anderson, Bob and Judy Woodle, Alan Kirk, Doris Wehler, Sue Ludlow, John Ludlow, Charlotte Lehan and Dr. Laura LaJoie Bishop.

Treasures of Wilsonville: The 2014 Heart of Gold Celebration will be held March 15 at the Wilsonville Holiday Inn, 25425 SW 95th Ave., Wilsonville.

That night, the next First Citizen will be revealed. In addition, a silent auction and live auction will be held. Proceeds will go to support local and international service projects of the Wilsonville Rotary Foundation.

Tickets to the event are on sale now for $50 each or $400 for a table of eight.
