Representatives to hold pre-session preview in Wilsonville

John Davis, R-Wilsonville, set to meet constituents Jan. 27-28

Rep. John Davis (R-Wilsonville) will host two pre-legislative session updates in Sherwood and Wilsonville to discuss the upcoming 2014 session of the Oregon Legislature.

The 2014 session begins Feb. 3 and continues through March 9. Bills are generally introduced by Oregon’s 90 lawmakers during the week of Jan. 20 and will start moving through the legislative process in February.

“My goals in 2014 are expanding the metro area’s economic growth to rural Oregon, connecting our education system with workforce needs and making our safety net and government agencies work more efficiently,” said Davis.

While Washington and Clackamas counties have reached near 6 percent unemployment rates, some counties in Oregon are still well above 10 percent.

“As your state representative, I am here to serve and advocate for you in Salem as we progress through the legislative session. Your input is invaluable. I hope local residents will join me for a preview of the bills that could help and harm Oregonians in 2014,” Davis said.

The pre-session previews will take place:

? Jan. 27 from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at the Oregon Restaurant and Lodging Association Headquarters, 8565 SW Salish Lane, Wilsonville, hosted by the Wilsonville Area Chamber of Commerce. Davis will be joined at this event by state Rep. Julie Parrish (R-West Linn).

? Jan. 28 from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at the Sherwood Police Station, 20495 SW Borchers Drive, Sherwood, hosted by the Sherwood Chamber of Commerce.

Coffee, pastries and fruit will be available at each event.
