Wilsonville woman sentenced for theft, official misconduct

Starla Schur given jail term for misusing a Clackamas County credit card


by: CLACKAMAS COUNTY JAIL - SCHURA former Clackamas County and city of Wilsonville employee accused of misusing a county credit card was sentenced to six months in the county jail Thursday after pleading guilty to spending $6,500 in public funds for personal purchases.

Starla Jo Schur, 53, of Wilsonville, pleaded guilty in Clackamas County Circuit Court Thursday, May 22, to charges of theft, forgery, identity theft, computer crimes and official misconduct. As part of a plea deal worked out between the defense and prosecution, Schur was given 180 days in county jail, although the plea agreement requires Schur to only spend 90 of those days in custody. The balance of her sentence would be spent on home detention with time off for good behavior.

Schur was a Clackamas County Tourism and Cultural Affairs employee for 18 months before her arrest. She was fired from her position in September 2013 after the thefts were discovered.

Prior to working for the county Schur was employeed by the city of Wilsonville for 15 years. She had no criminal record prior to the current case, in which she reportedly purchased airfare for her family, Botox and other items using a county-issued credit card.
