This years event moves back to Wood Middle School because of work being done on the high school track. The 11th annual Wilsonville Kiwanis Kids Fun Run is returning to Wood Middle School for 2014, with this year's event set for July 26 on the middle school track.

The last two years have seen the biggest and most success Fun Run events to date, and this year promises to be as big or bigger, organizers say. Online registration opened June 1 and is ongoing at kidsfunrun.org.

The Fun Run is free to all children ages 3-12, although individual donations are greatly appreciated. A $10 per runner contribution is encouraged on the part of families who can afford to pay for their children to participate.

The Fun Run features not only non-competitive runs of varying length for a wide range of kids' age groups, but activity booths, a fun obstacle course and a wellness pavilion sponsored by Legacy Meridian Park Hospital.

All money raised by the Fun Run is used by the Wilsonville Kiwanis Club to support Wilsonville's Dolly Parton Imagination Libary, the Wilsonville High School Key Club and the Wood Middle School Builders Club. Scholarships also are given to graduating Wilsonville high school students, as well as a variety of other community service projects.

This year's event was moved back to Wood Middle School, which has hosted a number of Fun Runs in the past, because of ongoing summer reconstruction of the Randall Stadium track at Wilsonville High School.

Volunteers also are needed to help make this year's event run smoothly, while sponsors for the event still are being sought at any level of contribution.
