Last week, members of the Sandy Police Department completed a ground search of the north bank of the Clackamas River for Estacada resident and former Wilsonville High School student Brandon Powell, after he was reported missing Sunday, March 12.
"We did a complete canvas of the area and that turned up nothing," said Chief Ernie Roberts of the Sandy Police Department.
The search was based on Powell's last known location and not any new information.
On Monday, March 13, the Clackamas County Marine Patrol conducted a search of the riverbank by boat. Search and rescue divers entered the river to conduct a search, but the high water levels and other river conditions made it impossible to continue, according to Roberts.
Between 5:30-5:45 a.m. Sunday, March 12, eighteen-year-old Powell left his home in the 400 block of Southwest Ivy Road in Estacada. He was wearing blue pajama pants and no shirt or shoes. It was reported that he began having a panic attack after using a controlled substance known as "dab."
Powell attends Clackamas Community College's Oregon City Campus and has friends in the Sandy and Wilsonville areas. He is described as a light skinned black male, is 6 feet 1 inches tall and weighs 175 pounds. He has brown eyes and curly brown hair.
The Sandy PD is currently interviewing family and friends both in Sandy and Wilsonville and follow up on any leads.
"What we're doing at this moment is following up on any tips that we have gotten on the tip lines," Roberts said. "We're trying to find out anything that we can to give us some idea about where he went or where he is."
Police ask that anyone who is able to get in touch with Powell call 911. Those who have information on his location should call the Sandy Police Tip Line at 503-489-2195.
