At the Rite Aid distribution center off of Boones Ferry Road, balloons, banners and signs welcomed all to the 11th annual Plant Sale April 28 and 29. Rows of stacked wooden pallets were crowded from edge to edge with flowers, shrubs and trees.
Sale volunteers said that although the price and selection of plants is a great draw, the cause behind the sale is the main motivator for most people to attend. With all proceeds for the event going to benefit Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Doernbecher Children's Hospital and Children's Miracle Network, organizer Ricki Hackworth said that the sale is a great opportunity to support both organizations while taking home some beautiful plants.
For those who were less than excited about plants, the event offered arts and crafts booths from around the community, a bouncy house and food trucks on the periphery of the plant sale.
