With the Parks and Recreation Master Plan underway, the City of Wilsonville is looking at a host of projects to make parks more accessible, safer and more attractive. Within this mission, the City Council approved the I-5 Undercrossing Trail Improvement Phase 1 project Sept. 7 to help connect the parks network.
The proposed trail begins in the neighborhood next to Memorial Park on Southwest Chia Loop, runs along the Willamette River, under Interstate
5 and comes out at Boones Ferry Park. In its current condition, the trail is not American Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant and is in need of upgrades.
At the meeting, the council approved a contract with 3Kings Environmental, Inc. to take on the construction of the project for $254,591.90. For Phase 1, 3Kings will bring the existing trail connecting Memorial Park and Boones Ferry Park up to current ADA requirements while improv-
ing the pavement, adding stormwater management features, infrastructure for future trail lighting and landscaping.
The City Council approved the resolution 3-0.
Construction is scheduled to last through Nov. 30. Once Phase 1 is complete, Phase 2 will extend the trail westward across the property added to Boones Ferry Park.
