College soccer: Wilsonville grad Elyse Laurin assisting Whitman's hot start
Former all-state honoree logs two assists in first five games
Elyse Laurin has already made an impact on the Whitman womens soccer team.
The recent Wilsonville High School alumna had logged two assists through five games, helping the Missionaries to a 5-0 record their best start since 2002.
In the first game of her collegiate career, a 7-0 rout of Northwest Christian, Laurin was on the initiating end of a goal by teammate Danielle Audino in the 36th minute.
About a week later, Laurin recorded another assist. In the 54th minute of Whitmans 2-0 shutout of La Verne, she sent a cross into the box that teammate Justine Kovak put away with her head for the first goal of the match.
Laurin, a first-team all-state defender during her time with the Wildcats, will make her athletic return to Oregon for two games in the coming week. The Missionaries play at Willamette University in Salem at 12 p.m. Sept. 21 and face Lewis & Clark at 12 p.m. Sept. 22.
Whitman, a private college in Walla Walla, Wash., competes in Division III as a member of the Northwest Conference. For more information, visit www.whitman.edu.
