Acrobatics and tumbling: Wilsonville's Annelyse Robinson signs with Oregon Ducks
Senior to join three-time national champions next year
Wilsonville High School senior Annelyse Robinson signed Nov. 13 on a scholarship with the three-time national champion University of Oregon acrobatics and tumbling team.
Robinson, 17, first started her gymnastics career when she was 5 years old. She had no idea she would later become a world-level competitive cheerleader and that her love of flipping would continue to be a major part of her life in her collegiate years.
Robinson, who joined Oregon Dream Teams when she was 13, has competed in the United States All-Star Federation Cheerleading Worlds Championship four times, placing in the semifinals each time.
Robinson was also a member of the Wilsonville varsity cheerleading squad for two years.
Acrobatics and tumbling meets are administered at the college level through the National Collegiate Acrobatics and Tumbling Association. Teams participate in head-to-head competitions, and scoring is based on execution much like in gymnastics or diving.
Robinson will join a Ducks program that is led by coach Felecia Mulkey.
