Wrestling: Sam Garrison, Justin Hamilton lead Wilsonville at Liberty tournament
Seniors place second at Oregon National Guard Invitational
Justin Hamilton and Sam Garrison each took second place to lead the Wilsonville wrestling team Dec. 21 in the Oregon National Guard Invitational at Liberty High School in Hillsboro.
Hamilton (195) earned three pins in a row to reach the semifinals, where he defeated Sandys Jeremy Funk by 7-2 decision to advance to the title bout. He then lost to Keizer-McNarys Zach Hammerschmith, 5-3.
Garrison (220) received a bye in the first round, won by 3-2 decision in the second round and reached the semifinals on a victory by injury default.
He then defeated Troutdale-Reynolds Jacob Keim by fall in 4 minutes 54 seconds before being pinned by Portland-Clevelands Sailer Becker in the championship match.
Sandy won the 16-team tournament with 280 points. The Wildcats (107) came in 14th.
