Dance: Wilsonville Pride caps successful year at nationals


Team places fourth in jazz after taking fifth overall at state competition

After scoring 75.33 points to take fifth place in the Class 5A intermediate division March 20 at Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland, the dancers traveled to Anaheim, Calif., to participate in a United Spirit Association national competition.

In an event featuring dance teams from across the country, the Pride took fourth place in the jazz category. Wilsonville also performed in the pom and lyrical competitions.

This year’s roster included Kylie Whittaker, Shelby Powelson, Madeline Ochs, Kelsie Kaiser, Gracie Roberts, Ally Jackson, Kayley Huber and Jordan Hayes, Jasmine Strom, Katie Kays, Maria Ochs, Emily McKillip, Kylie Gelfand, Samantha Gieber, Emma Johnston, Anna Walter de-Perlet, Taylor Dorr and Courtney Whitaker.

The team was coached by Eileen Halme and assistants Kristina Fetterman and Harmony Carson.
