Cross country teams field top 10 finishers in Fridays race
Wilsonville's cross country teams ran in the Heiser Farms XC Race in Dayton, Oregon on Friday, Oct. 13 against a whole host of other competing schools.
Notable top finishers for the boys team included senior Nicholas Whitaker who finished ninth overall with a time of 16 minutes eight seconds (16:08.97). The next Wilsonville runner to finish was junior Jack Burns who claimed the 37th spot with a time of 17:26.05. Junior Joseph Wilde was next to finish for the team, finishing 61st with a time of 17:51.77. Junior Jack Roche was the fourth runner for Wilsonville to cross the line with a time of 17:57.65 netting him the 71st place. Rounding out the top five Wildcats racers was junior Zachary Smith who finished 75th overall with a time of 18:01.03.
The Wilsonville girls team took third place overall with a score of 107. Sophomore Samantha Prusse finished in seventh place overall with a time of 19:27.48. Junior Angel Bohn took 21st overall with a time of 20:06.66, followed by junior Kate Stewart a few spots back in 27th place with a time of 20:21.55. Wilsonville's top five were rounded out by 30th and 31st senior Krista Herlin and junior Kaitlyn Dougall who finished with times of 20:28.52 and 20:30.28, respectively.
Wilsonville's cross country teams next compete in the 5A-1 Northwest Oregon Conference Championship at Blue Lake Park on Wednesday, Oct. 25.
