Columnists should use their writing to provide a window into their own lives, offering insight into what is going on in their high school as well as student perspective on local and national events.

Wilsonville Spokesman is seeking high-school columnists from Wilsonville High School for the 2017-2018 school year.

Columnists will write columns on a rotating schedule — about once every three to four weeks. Columnists are expected to generate original column ideas and adhere to strict deadlines.

Columnists should use their writing to provide a window into their own lives, offering insight into what is going on in their high school as well as student perspective on local and national events. Columnists are not paid. They are expected to love writing and have a distinct point of view to express.

To apply for one of these positions, send your name, year in school, which school you are attending, address, telephone number and a short biography to the Spokesman. Please also submit a sample column (about 550 words) on a subject or issue of your choice as well as two other ideas you could foresee writing about in the future. Samples may be printed in the Spokesman as guest columns over the summer.
