“This event was a great way to meet a lot of wonderful women. The topic was fabulous,” said Sue Muir, an insurance agent who lives in Wilsonville and works at the Lake Oswego branch of Bisnett Insurance.

The first program held Jan. 22 was on how to create an elevator speech with Teri LeVine, owner of MC2 Marketing Consultants.

The mission of the Women’s Business Council of the Wilsonville Area Chamber of Commerce is to educate, empower, mentor and promote women’s businesses, projects and causes.

Through networking sessions and educational programs, the Women’s Business Council and its members aim to become an empowered group leading to enhanced quality of life and economic growth in the south metro region.

“Expanding opportunities to small-, minority- and women-owned businesses is a critical component to move Wilsonville forward, create new jobs and expand opportunity for Wilsonville families,” said Darren Harmon, president of the chamber. “This group is a way the chamber can encourage women who are in business or thinking about starting a business.”

The Women’s Business Council events are open to all chamber members and nonmembers. The next event is planned for April 23 and the topic will be on how to dress for business success. More information can be found at wilsonvillechamber.com.
