California investors break ground on next apartment block on the Vancouver Waterfront
Jackson Square Properties broke ground on a new multi-family property, The Columbia at the Waterfront Apartments, on Oct 30.
Several dozen people came to watch leaders such as Vancouver Mayor Anne McEnerny-Ogle, LRS Architects Associate Principal Greg Mitchell and Blue Pine CEO Blaise Hilton give speeches about the Waterfront Vancouver.
The plot at 1111 West Columbia Way, just west of Wildfin American Grill and Twig Bistro on Waterfront Way, is on a key strip in the development of Vancouver's Waterfront. The area, once cut off by train tracks and zoned industrial, is considered a new playground for Vancouverites who don't want to commute to Portland, and international investors looking for waterfront property to invest in.
Others on the project include LRS Architects, PBS Engineering and Pence Construction.
Steel has already arrived at the site ready for the first piledrivers, but first they must dig for the underground garage.
The Columbia at the Waterfront will be a seven-story mixed-use neighborhood overlooking the Columbia River. It will have 248 apartments, two levels of subterranean parking, a fitness center, an infinity-edge pool overlooking the river, a rooftop pavilion, and various other amenities. It is owned by Jackson Square Properties and is being built by Blue Pine Construction Corporation. Blue Pine has done renovations in Portland but this is their first ground-up project in the area.
Block 20 is known for its good views of the river and the building is orientated to give the view to the maximum number of units.
The first move-ins are expected in June 2021.
