Now skinned up, 5 MLK brings some grandeur to the wacky corner of MLK and Burnside.

This mixed-use building has 15,000 square feet of ground-floor retail; 112,000 square feet of office space on floors two through six; 220 apartment units on floors seven through 17; 160 below-grade parking stalls, and associated amenity and support areas. The 17-story Burnside Bridgehead tower was designed by Chicago based GREC Architects for developer Gerding Edlen.

The site formerly housed Fishel's Furniture, founded in 1921.

5 MLK is just south of Yard, Slate, Fair-Haired Dumbbell and Aura Burnside. Nearby points of interest include the Towne Storage Building, the Jupiter Hotel Expansion, the Ankeny Apartments and the Burnside Delta.
