A new 73,700-square-foot, two-story building is being built behind an existing middle school on Southeast Cedar Street in Hillsboro. When completed, the new structure will have the capacity to serve as many as 600 students. The layout features learning streets centered between classrooms, with color schemes coordinated for class levels. The building also will include a STEAM lab, separate gym and cafeteria spaces that can be combined to create an ample event space, and an outdoor learning area. The new building should be ready for the fall 2020 school term. The existing school, which is currently being used, will be demolished next summer to make room for a sports playing field and student drop-off areas.
