A 90-year-old building that formerly housed offices of United Way of the Columbia-Willamette at the corner of Southwest 11th Avenue and Alder Street was demolished to make room for a 200-room "lifestyle" brand hotel. The building's second floor will contain office space. The ground floor will feature a restaurant to be named Masia. The restaurant will be operated by White Egg Hospitality, a venture between local chef Jose Chesa, his wife and business partner Cristina Baez, and Emily Metevier.
