Portland's most traditional hotel, The Benson, will join Curio Collection, part of the Hilton portfolio, in October 2021.
The Benson will still be owned by the existing stakeholders and managed by Coast Hospitality, but is being rebranded as a Hilton, part of their Curio Collection.
The change will be more than just a name change. The makeover for the Old Lady of Broadway will include "renovations to the hotel's common areas, including the meeting space, lobby, and (food and beverage) outlets," according to a release from Hilton.
"The 287-room hotel will continue to be operated by Seattle-based Coast Hospitality Management with design inspiration led by architectural firm GGLO. The property will remain open during all renovation plans.
George Schweitzer, managing director of the Benson, said, "It… allows us to provide our guests an enhanced experience that is authentic to Portland, with connectivity to the Hilton Honors worldwide guest-loyalty program."
Curio Collection by Hilton is a global portfolio of more than 100 hotels and resorts, and each one provides travelers local offerings and unexpected amenities tailored to every traveler type while staying within the Hilton guest-loyalty program, Hilton Honors.
Honors Members will have access to contactless technology through the Hilton Honors mobile app and can check-in, choose their room, and access their room using a digital key.
The 1913 Benson is the only Portland Hotel that boasts a presidential suite. In 2018, The Benson had a two year $14 million dollar renovation of its guestrooms and suites. The website still boasts of having two LCD televisions and "a clock/radio with iPod docking station."
