Allium Financial names Scott Thompson CIO
Lake Oswego-based Allium Financial announced its new chief investment officer Scott Thompson on April 26.
Thompson's previous role was a partner, portfolio manager and CIO at Common Sense Investment Management and Concentric Wealth Advisors.
Thompson has 25 years of experience in alternative investments, and in his new role at Allium will lead the firm's investment committee, investment research, portfolio management and client relations, according to the firm. He is a strong expert in alternatives such as hedge funds, real estate, private debt and private equity.
The firm said about 33% of its investments are institutional-quality alternative investments, which Thompson's specialty in will help further the firm's intention to expand these types of investments to its clients in the future.
"Using institutional-quality alternative investments for accredited non-profits is not done often because a lot of work must be put into finding the right opportunities for these organizations," Thompson said. "But at Allium, we know that these investments present a great opportunity to potentially reduce risk by lowering volatility. They present a worthwhile opportunity for our clients to diversify and fortify their portfolios."
The CEO of Allium is Sheree Arntson.
"Scott will elevate our depth of expertise and create an opportunity for our firm on the investment side of our business," Artson said. "He will also help us further refine our portfolio management process and make our portfolios even better."
Allium was founded in Portland in 2016, and provides comprehensive financial services including insurance, taxes, gifting, estate planning and investment management.
