ODOT to replace West Fork Dairy Creek Bridge
The Oregon Department of Transportation will begin work to replace the West Fork Dairy Creek Bridge near Banks on Monday, May 16.
Oregon Highway 47 travels across the bridge. With the bridge out, Highway 27 — signed locally as Nehalem Highway — will be closed between U.S. Highway 26 and Oregon Highway 6 until at least October.
ODOT recommends using the other highways as detours.
The bridge is more than 80 years old, and its timber deck is in poor condition, according to ODOT. It will be removed and a new bridge built as part of the project.
The work will include adding vegetation and boulders to the sides of the creek to prevent downstream erosion as well as repaving the roadway, replacing the guardrail, and installing new stripes and traffic signs.
