This comes after the new rules, set to go into effect on June 15, were established earlier this year.

"These new resources reflect our ongoing commitment to helping employers achieve compliance with the heat rule as they move forward with their operations," Stapleton said.

The resources include two fact sheets, and a heat illness prevention online course.

The online course is intended to satisfy training requirements of the new heat rules. It addresses how to recognize signs and symptoms of heat-related illnesses, access to shade and drinking water, risk factors and how the heat index is measured.

The fact sheets show the overall requirements employers are expected to comply with this summer, including the new rest break schedule options for preventing heat illness.

Created after an 18-month process driven by climate change seen today, the OSHA rules are intended to protect Oregon workers from increasingly frequent and extreme conditions.

Currently, the new Oregon OSHA rules are some of the strongest in the nation, according to the organization. They build on last year's emergency rules that followed Oregon's increasingly extreme and damaging fire season.

The new rules include access to shade, cool drinking water and increased paid breaks at temperatures of 80 and 90 degrees; additional high heat protections in 90-degree weather, including a buddy system, increased communications and a requirement to measure heat and humidity levels in indoor structures; and requiring employers to provide annual training, a heat illness prevention plan, an emergency medical plan and an acclimatization plan.
