In the role, Vickers will lead Prosper Portland in its ongoing mission to center equity in its policies and practices, oversee the development of quantitative outcomes and metrics as well as guide strategic community and communication engagement, according to the agency.

"I am grateful to work with a team that has such an extensive level of experience, expertise and commitment to amplifying inclusive economic development in our city," Vickers said. "Raising my daughter in a place that my family has called home for generations makes this new involvement in Portland's future a very personal step for me. The realization of economic justice and prosperity for our vibrant communities requires our work to strengthen community connections and partnerships to make Portland a place where everyone can thrive."

Vickers formerly served as chair of the City of Portland Human Rights Commission, as an executive board member of the Portland African American Leadership Forum, and she studied at Howard University.

Her financial background includes work at Wells Fargo including as vice president public affairs employee initiatives leader, and vice president community development officer for Oregon. At Wells Fargo, Vickers led the activation of more than $22 million in Wells Fargo Foundation philanthropic community investment throughout Oregon, including $5.4 million in 2021 to support Oregon's diverse small businesses and $7.1 million in 2019 to the Neighborhood LIFT program, helping 280 families become first-time homeowners throughout Multnomah County.

Kimberly Branam is the executive director of Prosper Portland.
