Now through Thursday, Oct. 6, people are encouraged to apply for positions on a variety of temporary crews and assignments, including:
Available positions provide support at Sandy, Zigzag, Dufur and Parkdale forest ranger stations. A complete list of open seasonal positions can be found online at fs.usda.gov/main/mthood/about-forest/jobs. To apply, visit usajobs.gov before Oct. 6. The Forest Service "How to Apply" webpage has resume tips and step-by-step instructions to help with the application process at fs.usda.gov/working-with-us/jobs/how-to-apply.
Besides these numerous seasonal positions, the forest service is also hiring permanent firefighters to work across the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. This hiring process is open until Tuesday, Oct. 11. For more information on these year-round positions, visit tinyurl.com/2m9zmmxs.
According to a statement from the forest service, "It is important for applicants to apply to any duty location and position they're interested in. Check the interactive map for positions that may be filled during Fire Hire. If a position becomes vacant during the Fire Hire, that position may be immediately backfilled. Apply for jobs listed as 'Filled,' just in case they become vacant this fall."
