The industries that saw the biggest increases in employment have been leisure and hospitality, health care and social assistance, and retail trade.

Leisure and hospitality added a total of 47,600 jobs in May and June, recovering around 39% of the jobs lost in March and April. Health care and social assistance recovered 59% of jobs lost, adding 15,700. Retail added 11,500 or almost half of jobs lost.

Not all industries have recovered as well, though. According to the release, professional and business services only added 1,900 jobs since May after losing more than 20,000 jobs in March and April, and jobs are still being cut in industries like manufacturing, government and information.

Nationally, 4.8 million nonfarm jobs were added in June, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported on Thursday, June 2. Oregon numbers are in line with national unemployment statistics, with June's national unemployment rate at 11.1%, down from 13.3%.
