Life starting to return to normal
Beaverton Lodge is happy to announce that we are starting to return to normal living as restrictions are easing. We are now eating together again in the dining room and soon we will allow ALL visitors to come to visit.
During the pandemic, our Activities Director LaDonna Leake worked tirelessly to ensure our residents were stimulated emotionally, intellectually, and socially. She was able to adapt activities so residents could stay engaged.
Leake says her most popular activity is the one-hour exercise program followed by the "Do I Know You" game where residents draw questions and give answers about their lives. We "learn so much about each other," she said. Balloon volleyball and Great Courses (variety of subjects with discussions afterwards) are also favorite activities for residents.
Every Wednesday, LaDonna offers Cabin Fever Express rides around town with no stops, walks in Commonwealth Lake Park, and eating excursions at Beaverton Food Carts or other restaurants. The field trips will continue to expand as restrictions ease. LaDonna is starting to book live entertainment and guest speakers at the Lodge, too.
"I'm always looking for anything to surprise and delight my folks," LaDonna said. "Each Monday night residents can use the grills to cook their own dinner and I'm still offering scaled-down versions of some activities like ladderball, brain boosters, movie discussion and a variety of card and dice games."
And don't forget the saline pool! Incredibly unique for a retirement community to have a saline pool for water aerobics (coming again soon,) and swimming. Call today to schedule a tour at Beaverton Lodge.
