At Morning Star - A Place for Everyone
At MorningStar, we cherish our residents and enjoy our daily interactions. One of our more popular residents is Faye Sincick, who at age 92 is proud of her age and finds a way to help others. Faye met her future husband Augie when she was just 16 years old. He lived next door to her grandparents, and she jokes that he knew her grandparents better than she did because they were close. Faye and Augie, who served in the Army Air Corps, would be married 70 years and parent four children, three boys and a daughter. Faye worked as a purchasing manager/secretary, purchasing agent and also taught preschool for years. Progressively, Faye worked with the Oregon Health Science Center closely because she always included a disabled student in her class "to help them understand where they are and show them what they are capable of doing."
Faye thought she was retired when her youngest son suggested she might be bored, so Faye applied to the new Beaverton Fred Meyer where she would work for 8 years earning "fun money" for her and Augie to travel. Indeed, they took a trailer all across America, cruises, and spent extended periods in Asia, including Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Beijing and Thailand where her oldest son was living.
Called the "Mother Hen" lovingly by staff, Faye is known to help other residents who come to her. She walks at least one mile every day and others join her. She has fixed TVs, microwaves, thermostats and has even helped others clean out the lint in their dryers.
"If somebody needs help, I'm there," Faye said.
Faye loves living at MorningStar where she immediately fell in love with the home-like feel of the community and the accommodations.
