Morningstar resident Don Morris gains strength through physical therapy
It's been said aging ain't for sissies, and it's true especially for Morningstar resident Don Morris who worked his whole life in jobs that were mentally challenging and yet hard on his body. Don spent 45 years with Weyehauser, 38 of those years as a soft piler with a crew of nine where they worked on over 300 saws. Don also spent time in fumigation, building custom vans and owned his own upholstery/drapery business.
Because of aging and years of strenuous work, Don's body had some physical recovery to do. Morningstar arranged for Genesis Healthcare Inc., located inside the Morningstar community, to work with Don to increase mobility and strength. Don had both in-room visits and attended rehabilitation in their facility.
"They worked with my legs to help improve my strength so I could walk better," Don explained. "The main purpose of using Genesis was because I had broken my shoulder before I moved here, and I needed to get the use of my arm better. I was doing rehabilitation for five weeks, they listened to me, and I got along well with them."
The convenience of Genesis Healthcare Inc. cannot be understated especially for seniors who might have mobility complications. With a rehabilitation provider on-site, clients are also more apt to follow through with exercises.
Genesis Healthcare focuses on medical post-acute care of seniors facing physical issues. The company provides a beneficial, convenient service inside skilled nursing facilities and senior living communities like Morningstar.
Now at 87 years old, Don says he has improved and enjoys living at Morningstar, where the "activities are good, and the staff are polite and helpful. It's so clean and neat. Everything here is spic-and-span."
