Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (D-Beaverton) is sponsoring a health care information session for small business owners and their staff who have questions about the implementation of the Affordable Care Act on Monday, Sept. 16, at 8:30 a.m. at the Beaverton Community Center, 12350 S.W. Fifth St., suite 100.

The event is open to the public. Presentations by Cover Oregon, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Internal Revenue Service and the Small Business Association will provide participants with information about new coverage options for employers and employees, the Small Business Healthcare Tax Credit and the Small Business Health Options Program, a new program that simplifies the process of buying health coverage for small businesses.

“Within the Affordable Care Act there are several provisions that will help lower premium costs and increase access to health insurance for the people who are self-employed and for the employees of small businesses,” Bonamici said. “This event will help them understand how to access these benefits and provide answers to any questions they may have before enrollment begins on Oct. 1.”
