Beaverton Veterans Day ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m.

FILE PHOTO - Beaverton's Veterans Day ceremony will be held Saturday, Nov. 11. Veterans will be honored at an annual event scheduled to take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at Bethel Congregational United Church, 5150 S.W. Watson Ave., adjacent to the Beaverton Veterans Memorial Park and presented by American Legion Post No.124.

Pastor David Randall-Bodman will provide greetings followed by a welcome from Post No. 124 Commander Steve Gerber, who also will perform closing comments.

"The Call to the Colors" will be performed by Post No. 124 bugler Scott Woods along with Doug Reneau as well as Echo Taps.

The post of colors and retiring the colors will be performed by a multi-agency police honor guard.

Alicia Davenport from Beaverton ISing will sing the National Anthem, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by Rudi Gottwald, veteran and retired Beaverton Police Officer.

Randall-Bodman will return to do the invocation and the benediction.

Beaverton Mayor Denny Doyle will read a proclamation.

Speakers for the event include Lt. Ian Beaty, Washington County Sheriff Pat Garrett and Col. Todd A. Hofford.

The Empty Chair Ceremony, which honors the memories of prisoners of war and those missing in action, also will be performed.

Avance' from Southridge High School will perform "That Lonesome Road," "America the Beautiful" and "Shenandoah."
