Westview cheerleaders take home school's fifth state trophy
Beaverton's Westview High School cheerleaders took home the championship Saturday, Feb. 10, during the OSAA Cheerleading State Championships at Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
Westview's cheerleaders, led by coach Melissa Hoekert, scored 194.5 to win the 6A championship. It's the fifth time since 2009 that the team has won a state championship.
Second place in the 6A division went to Lake Oswego High School. Lakeridge High School took third. Liberty High School took fourth. Clackamas High School was fifth.
In the 5A overall competition, Wilsonville High School took second place. Tualatin High School was the champion in the coed large school competition.
Newberg High School was the champion in the coed small school competition. David Douglas High School's team was second, Gladstone was fourth and Sherwood was fifth.
