A 23-year-old man suffered 'life threatening' injuries during the crash on Saturday, March 31.

BEAVERTON POLICE PHOTO - A 23-year-old man suffered 'life threatening' injuries after the crash around 10:55 p.m. on Southwest Canyon Road in Beaverton.Beaverton Police say a young man suffered life-threatening injuries after he was struck by a car on Saturday night.

First responders scrambled to the scene of the accident on Southwest Canyon Road near the intersection with Maple Lane around 10:55 p.m. on Saturday, March 31.

"I can tell you that he's still in ICU at Emmanuel in critical condition," Officer Jeremy Shaw, a spokesman for the department, said on Sunday.

Shaw said the driver of the vehicle voluntarily submitted to a roadside sobriety test and showed no signs of impairment. Police say the driver was traveling eastbound around a curve and wasn't able to avoid striking the pedestrian.

"In that area there are no crosswalks," Shaw confirmed.

No charges or citations have been filed against the driver at this time.
