Two of them will have the candidates for board chair, who is elected countywide; one will have candidates for Districts 2 and 4.

Candidates for Washington County board chair and two commissioner positions will appear at forums this week.

The four candidates for board chair have two joint appearances sponsored by the Washington County Committee for Citizen Involvement and the Community Participation Organization program.

They are:

• Tuesday, April 10, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Forest Grove Library, 2114 Pacific Ave.

• Thursday, April 12, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Sunset High School, 13840 N.W. Cornell Rd.

A third joint appearance is scheduled April 17 at Tigard High School.

The candidates for chair are Ryan Deckert, Kathryn Harrington, Bob Terry and Shabba Woodley. Incumbent Andy Duyck is leaving after two terms as chairman and a total of 24 years on the board.

If no one wins a majority for the nonpartisan position in the May 15 primary, the top two finishers advance to the Nov. 6 general election.

The candidates for seats in Districts 2 (northeast) and 4 (west) will appear jointly from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 12, at the Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue building, 31370 N.W. Commercial St., North Plains.

Candidates for District 2 are Greg Malinowski, the two-term incumbent, and Pam Treece.

Candidates for District 4 are Kimberly Culbertson and Jerry Willey. Bob Terry, the two-year incumbent, is running for board chair.

Sunset Highway (north-south) and Cornelius Pass Road (east-west) are the general dividers of Districts 2 and 4, although part of Hillsboro is within District 2.
