Man arrested on new charges of sex abuse
A Beaverton man arrested earlier this year on accusations of sex abuse was arrested again on Wednesday after Beaverton Police say three new victims, all minors, have spoken up.
Police initially arrested Reachana Chan back in March after a Washington County grand jury indicted him on multiple sex abuse charges. After that arrest, and subsequent media stories, three additional victims came forward, police say.
The three new victims were 12 and 13 years old when the alleged criminal acts occurred during 2013-14. At that time, Chan was 19.
The three victims knew Chan by the name of "Brandon" and met him over social media sites like MeetMe, Facebook and KIK, police say.
In July, a second grand jury indicted Chan on 30 additional sex crimes which include multiple counts of second-degree rape; first-degree sexual abuse; counts of first- and second-degree sodomy; 13 counts of using children in the display of sexual explicit conduct; fist-degree unlawful sexual penetration; and one count of first-degree encouraging child sexual abuse.
Chan was re-arrested Wednesday, Aug. 1, by Beaverton detectives and taken to the Washington County Jail. His bail has been set at $5.25 million.
Beaverton Police detectives believe there may be even more additional victims. Anyone with information on the case should contact Detective Maggie Brown at 503-526-2538.
