Beaverton forum will feature candidates, Metro bond issue
Candidates for Washington County board chair and three Beaverton area seats in the Oregon House will speak at a forum sponsored by Beaverton's Committee for Community Involvement.
The forum is Thursday, Oct. 18, at Beaverton High School, 13000 S.W. 2nd St. A reception is scheduled at 6:15 p.m., and the program will start at 7 p.m.
The lineup (all candidates have been invited):
• Washington County board chair: Kathryn Harrington and Bob Terry. This position is nonpartisan.
• Oregon House districts 27, 28 and 34: All cover parts of Beaverton and Aloha. The Democratic incumbents in order are Sheri Malstrom, Jeff Barker and Ken Helm. Malstrom and Helm have Republican and Libertarian opponents; Barker, a Libertarian opponent.
• Measure 26-199, which the Metro Council has proposed to raise $652.8 million for housing. Speaking in favor is Lily Dorn, coalition manager of Yes for Affordable Housing; speaking against is Andy Duyck, the current chairman of the Washington County board.
