The cause of Monday's fire remains unknown; a dog died; a cat remains mission.

Firefighters on Monday battled a blaze on the 5000 block of Southwest Lombard Avenue near Seventh Street in Beaverton. The fire caused significant damage to a home.

The call came in around 3:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29. Crews from Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue were faced with "heavy fire" in the basement and first floor of the two-story, 1700-square-foot home, according to a press release. The house had excessive amounts of personal belongings, making access throughout the structure challenging.

Crews had the fire under control at 4:09 p.m.

An occupant was treated at the scene by Metro West Ambulance. No other injuries were reported.

One dog is deceased and as of Monday, a cat is missing as a result of the fire.

The fire caused extensive damage to the home. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
