The two-alarm fire was reported just after 2:30 a.m. in the 13000 block of Southwest 17th Street, in Beaverton's Highland neighborhood.

While no injuries were reported, TVF&R said, at least 11 people have been displaced by the fire, as it rendered the building uninhabitable. The American Red Cross is assisting some of the victims.

Firefighters were successful in keeping the fire from spreading to surrounding residential buildings, but the fourplex itself is considered a total loss.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation as of Thursday morning.

TVF&R noted the building was not equipped with fire sprinklers, and it's unclear whether it had functioning smoke alarms.
