Panelists for the Oct. 7 event are Metro councilor, county commissioner and state representative. Housing costs were mentioned by 74% in a public opinion survey conducted last year for a new report.

What city, county and state governments can do about housing will be the focus of the next Washington County Public Affairs Forum.

Luncheon will start at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7, and the program at noon, at Coyote's Bar and Grill, 5301 W. Baseline Rd., Hillsboro. Lunch can be ordered from the menu.

Scheduled speakers are Metro Councilor Craig Dirksen, a former Tigard mayor; Washington County Commissioner Jerry Willey, a former Hillsboro mayor and councilor, and state Rep. Susan McLain of Forest Grove, a former Metro councilor.

The rising cost of housing was mentioned by 74% of participants in a public opinion survey a year ago by DHM Research, which conducted it for the report, "Growing Up Washington County." The report will have a public presentation Wednesday, Oct. 2.

NOTE: Updates with Craig Dirksen on the panel, instead of Steve Callaway.
