Extra day added as forecast is for extreme cold for the next 48 hours; shelter on 5th Street is usually open Thursdays from November through March. Volunteers from Just Compassion of East Washington County operate it, serving dinner and breakfast, under an agreement with the city.

Beaverton's severe-weather shelter will be open Friday night, Nov. 22.

The shelter is normally open Thursday nights from November through March, and also on nights when extreme cold is forecast for more than 48 hours and volunteer staffing is available.

The shelter is at the Beaverton Community Center, 12350 S.W. 5th St. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the shelter will remain open until 6:30 the following morning.

The shelter has space for 30 adults, ages 18 and up, on a first-come, first-served basis. Dinner and breakfast are provided.

Just Compassion of East Washington County runs the shelter under an agreement with the city.
