Beaverton's severe-weather shelter was open Friday, Nov. 29, because of forecast freezing temperatures.
The shelter is at the Beaverton Community Center, 12350 S.W. 5th St. The first 30 adults will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Dinner and breakfast will be served.
The shelter is operated by Just Compassion of East Washington County under contract with the city. It is normally open Thursdays from November through March, and on additional days when temperatures are forecast to be at or below freezing for 48 hours and there is sufficient volunteer staffing.
