A jury convicted Michael Avenatti in U.S. District Court in Manhattan of the counts following a three-week trial, according to multiple reports.

"Today a unanimous jury found Michael Avenatti guilty of misusing his client's information in an effort to extort tens of millions of dollars from the athletic apparel company Nike," U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman said in a statement, reported CNBC.

Avenatti, who gained famed by representing adult film star Stormy Daniels, was arrested last March after allegedly threatening the shoe and athletic company with a news conference he said would ruin its reputation unless they paid millions of dollars, CNBC quotes court papers as stating.

He also still faces federal charges for defrauding clients and absconding with payments, CNBC reported. In addition, he faces a separate federal case that he kept money that was supposed to be paid to Daniels.

"I am not surprised his dishonesty has been revealed on a grand scale," Daniels wrote in an Instagram post following the verdict. "His arrogant, fraudulent and overly aggressive behavior became so pervasive that the jury found his true character."

Nike, one of Oregon's largest companies, has its world headquarters just outside Beaverton in unincorporated Washington County. They also have offices in the Tanasbourne area of Hillsboro, and the company maintains two private jets at the Hillsboro International Airport.
