Beaverton sues local plumber after water leak at City Hall
The city of Beaverton, acting through its insurance agency, has sued a local plumbing firm and an Indiana manufacturer after a water valve at City Hall sprung a leak two years ago.
CityCounty Insurance Services sued Beaverton Plumbing Inc. and valvemaker NIBCO after assuming the legal right to attempt to collect damages owed to the city government, according to the four-page suit.
Five years after it was installed, a defective or improperly installed valve failed on Oct. 22, 2019, "resulting in a high-rate uncontrolled release of water," according to the complaint filed in mid-April in Washington County Circuit Court.
The suit seeks $316,858.74 to cover the cost of water damage and repairs to the City Hall building located at 12725 Millikan Way.
The city of Beaverton and the two defendants did not respond to requests for comment.
