The crash resulted in the death of another driver, a 62-year-old man from Eugene.

A 42-year-old Beaverton motorist collided with another vehicle while attempting to pass on a state highway west of Veneta Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 2, causing a crash that killed the other driver, according to Oregon State Police.

The Beaverton man was driving a Toyota Tundra westbound on Highway 26, near the unincorporated community of Noti, when he made what police described as an "unsafe pass" and collided head-on with a silver Toyota Echo in the eastbound lane, police said.

Officials said both vehicles came to rest in the eastbound lane.

The 62-year-old Eugene man driving the Echo was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. The Tundra driver was uninjured.

Eastbound lanes on Highway 126 were closed for four hours during the investigation, police said.
