The new location, located at 12675 N.W. Cornell Road, will be a small-format Target, which will anchor the surrounding shopping center, according to the website of Neville & Butler Commercial Real Estate.

Small-format targets are focused in areas like college campuses, dense suburban areas and urban neighborhoods, Target's website said. The Cedar Mill location will be about 49,000 square feet.

According to Washington County Land Use & Transportation records, the county approved Target's request to change the use of the space from a grocery store, Bales, to the new retail store back in March 2021.

Construction company Skanska confirmed it's been working on the building, and county records show renovations and permitting have been ongoing since 2021.

As Cedar Mill neighbors may have noticed, Target finally put a sign in front of the new location, too.

The company held a virtual neighborhood meeting in October 2020 to get community input on the new store. According to the webpage for the meeting, Target planned for it to sell general merchandise, groceries and alcohol and include a pharmacy and Starbucks.

At the time of publishing, Target did not respond to inquiries from Pamplin Media Group about an opening date.
